I just want to say that choosing the winner of the SyFy contest was the hardest decision I’ve had to make this past weekend. The competition was mind-numbingly intense—one man battling himself until the very end! But when it got down to the nitty-gritty, I had to go with Rohi #2, so congratulations Rohi, you can email me (anthologies2011@gmail.com) the address you’d like your gift card mailed to. And you get to choose from Starbucks, Subway or iTunes.
Rohi’s entry:
“A secret experiment involving biological warfare in a private laboratory in California goes wrong and produces a mutant species of cockroaches that grows to 20 feet and can fly for miles. Worse, they multiply rapidly and develop a craving for human flesh. The mutant cockroaches break out of the lab and cause widespread havoc and panic.
The government is forced to evacuate the nearby area and assembles a crack team of six scientists to come up with a solution. The team includes Larry Hart and his recently separated wife, Ruth Jackson. Can the two put aside their bitter memories of the past and develop a microbe that will selectively target the mutant cockroaches? And is a member of the team trying to deliberately sabotage their efforts?”

Thank you for taking the time to enter something, Rohi. And don’t be frightened if someone from the Lifetime channel contacts you about writing Tara Reid’s next straight-to-TV movie.
Hi CasperPearl,
ReplyDeleteThanks a million.
I’ve to say that your post announcing me as the winner is hilarious.
I’ve shared it on Facebook and Twitter and emailed it to some of my friends.
I’ve been a wannabe writer for more than two years now and I figured it’s time to wannabe less and write more.
I’m really grateful to you for giving me this chance to be proactive and submit something.
Even then, I almost missed the deadline.
So this is a clear signal to me from the gods to be proactive and submit, submit, submit.
Now, I’ve another favor to ask.
Would it be possible to send the prize money to my paypal account = rohishetty@gmail.com
I am saving money for a writing course and this would be of great help.
Another reason is that a friend sent me a gift certificate for itunes last year and I was unable to figure out how to use it.
Yeah, that’s pretty pathetic.
Thanks again, C.P., you made my day, week, month, year!
Yesterday, I also noticed for the first time that I can send more than one entry for the “Memory Eater” short story anthology.
No reason or excuse to dilly dally any more.
Thanks again, CasperPearl.
Warm regards,
Rohi
Hi C. P.
ReplyDeleteI've just posted in my blog about this.
http://rohishetty.blogspot.com/2011/04/ive-won-my-first-contest-in-2011.html
Thanks again and ciao for now.
Rohi
Dear Rohi,
ReplyDeleteYour entry was hilarious.
Somehow mutant cockroaches seem more dangerous than human zombies. The union of two persons with bitter feelings and a shady character is also clever. If this book comes out, I would definitely read it. Ha Ha.
Take Care. Keep Writing and Submitting.
